The Artist Decorated the House with Knitting.
The artist and master Olek has long been known to the world. At first she decorated an alligator on the playground, then a whole locomotive, and now Olek covered the two-story house with a pink crocheted blanket. The new installation is currently in Kerava, Finland, where Ms. Olek has worked with a team of assistants to sew huge crocheted panels that cover every inch of this 100-year-old house. The work was not easy and very painstaking. But the result – stunned everyone.
The master said that this building, built in the early 1900s, was the home of Karl Jacob Svensky (1883-1968). During the 1939-1940 war, the family fled to avoid bombing. The pink house has become a kind of symbol of a bright future, full of hopes for a better life.
