Corten Steel House in the Hinterland of the Ukrainian Forest.

Corten Steel House in the Hinterland of the Ukrainian Forest.

There is something charming about the Ukrainian forest. This stunning house is located away from civilization, half underground in a pristine forest. The spacious house is clad in Corten steel, which withstands the weather and rusts to a beautiful finish that gives it an organic look. Perforated mesh forms the wall and floor panels, allowing native wild grapes and ivy to penetrate surfaces during the warmer months. The three-story house, designed by Sergey Makhno Architects, features floor-to-ceiling windows and a huge glass roof to allow natural beauty and light to enter. This architecture does not create a particular sense of warmth and comfort, but it is undoubtedly a coherent and impressive design and execution. Almost like the lair of a James Bond villain, but tastefully done.
